PS: this is as relevant now in May 2022 as it was when TGC published it back in 2021

How utterly magnificent! And GK Chesterton (?) said something similar - when people cease to believe in God they do not worship nothing but anything. The era of the early church was massively more hostile to Christian faith than anything with which we in the West have to tolerate today. Looking at it from across the Pond one almost begins to wonder if many "Evangelicals" have ceased to believe in evangelism at all - TGC, Samuel James and other faithfuls being the all too rare exceptions to the rule. Being a Schaeffer/Lloyd-Jones/Packer enthusiast for a good half century by now I do wonder if the problem is that "Evangelicalism" has utterly forgotten the doctrine of the Sovereignty of God, that it is predominantly Arminian and thus puts everything down to human choice rather than the power of the Holy Spirit in conversion, as taught so clearly in Scripture. Anyway, thank God for the faithful remnant of genuine Evangelicals in the USA today - reading Samuel James and TGC cheers me up no end!
